Identification

Identification is the process of discovering the properties and effects of unidentified items in Remixed Dungeon.

Unidentified Items

  • Most items found in the dungeon are initially unidentified
  • Unidentified items have uncertain effects when used
  • Unidentified items show as generic placeholders in inventory

Methods of Identification

  • Scroll of Identify - Identifies a single item completely
  • Scroll of Knowledge - Identifies an item and provides additional information
  • Using an item reveals its properties (but consumes or degrades the item)
  • Shopkeeper identification in shops
  • Alchemy can reveal item properties

Item Classes That Need Identification

  • Potions - Color reveals the type after identification
  • Scrolls - Title reveals the type after identification
  • Rings - Gem and properties revealed after identification
  • Wands - Type and remaining charges revealed after identification
  • Armor and Weapons - May have hidden Enchantments or Glyphs

Strategy

Risks

  • Using unidentified items may have harmful effects
  • Cursed items activate their curse when used or equipped
  • Some Potions and Scrolls have dangerous effects
  • Items - All items that can be identified
  • Scrolls - Items that aid identification
  • Shops - Places where items can be identified
  • Enchantments - Properties revealed through identification
  • Glyphs - Armor properties revealed through identification
