Mystery Meat is a food item in Remixed Dungeon. When eaten, it has a random beneficial or harmful effect. It can be safely cooked at a cauldron to create Chargrilled Meat, eliminating the risk of negative effects.

Description

According to the in-game description: “A mysterious piece of meat. Eating it might be risky, but there's a chance it could have positive effects.”

Effects When Eaten

When consumed, Mystery Meat randomly applies one of the following effects:

* Burning - Sets the hero on fire (20% chance) * Roots - Immobilizes the hero (20% chance) * Poison - Poisons the hero (20% chance) * Slow - Slows the hero's movement and actions (20% chance) * No Effect - Simply satisfies hunger (20% chance)

Obtaining

* Mobs drop: Dropped by certain mobs including Crab, Spinner, Scorpio, and various spider types * Butchering: Can be obtained from defeated animals and other meat-based enemies * Other food: Can result from certain food transformations

Strategy

* Risk vs Reward: The risk of negative effects must be weighed against potential benefits (no effect means safe hunger satisfaction) * Cooking: Generally safer to cook Mystery Meat at a cauldron to make Chargrilled Meat instead, which provides nutrition without risk * Emergency Use: May be necessary to consume when other food sources are unavailable * Hunger State: Riskier to consume when nearly starving compared to when moderately hungry

Transformations

Mystery Meat can transform into other items under certain conditions: * Burned: When exposed to fire, becomes Chargrilled Meat * Frozen: When exposed to cold, becomes Frozen Carpaccio * Poisoned: When affected by poison, becomes Rotten Food
