Fire is an environmental hazard in Remixed Dungeon that damages characters and spreads to flammable terrain.

Fire is a harmful environmental effect that damages any character that enters burning cells. Fire originates from various sources and spreads to adjacent flammable terrain each turn. When fire expires on natural terrain, it becomes embers.

• Damage: Fire damages characters each turn they remain in the burning cell
• Spread: Fire spreads to adjacent flammable terrain each turn
• Duration: Fire burns for 4 turns at each location (decreases by 1 each turn)
• Terrain Change: When fire expires on natural terrain, it becomes embers
• Item Burning: Fire burns items in heaps and carried items of affected characters
• Status Effect: Characters in fire receive the Burning status effect with 8-turn duration
• Level Objects: Fire affects level objects (chests, statues, etc.) as well as characters

Fire can be created by:

• Ignite Spell - Creates 5-turn fire blob (special implementation)
• Wand of Firebolt - Attacks ignite targets
• Fire Arrows - Missile weapons that ignite targets
• Fire Enchantment - Weapon enchantment
• Firebloom - Plants that ignite characters
• Fire Elementals - Enemies that attack with fire
• Mage Armor - Special armor effect
• Incendiary Darts and other fire-based items
• Environmental sources and traps

Characters standing in fire receive:

• Damage each turn while in the fire
• The Burning status effect with 8-turn duration
• Visual flame particle effects on their sprite
• Burning sound effects
• Damage over time

How to effectively use fire:

• For Players: Use to damage enemies and create area denial
• For Defense: Be aware that fire will damage you as well as enemies
• Combat: Force enemies into fire to gain damage advantage
• Terrain: Use in flammable areas to spread the effect
• Environmental: Set grass and other flammable terrain on fire to create lasting obstacles

• Avoid standing in fire when possible
• Use Frost-based items or spells to extinguish fire
• Use flying abilities to avoid ground-based fire
• Remove burning status effect with appropriate items

• Fire Elementals - Immune to fire and burning
• Ice Elementals - May be resistant
• Some undead creatures may have resistance
• Mechanical creatures might be immune
• Characters with frost-based protection
• Champions with the fire champion effect
